Received this from a Threeper I trust implicitly regarding LaRue Tactical quality control problems and service issues. 10/30/2011 8:26:18 PM Thanks! That sounds like the one. I measured the 9 Scope Ring at our last match and it was 13″. I appreciate the help. RegionRat

Scope Rings

2/6/2008 7:24:29 PM I use the Burris Xtreme 6-screw Scope Rings to mount a Nightforce 5.5-22x56mm on a State Arms Shorty. They work just fine and have held up to about 400 rounds thus far without a shift in zero or evidence of movement on the scope or rifle. Like I do with any ring, I mount them to my rifle torquing the loc-tited crossbolts with an inch pound wrench to Burris specs. Then I Lap the Scope Rings with a Wheeler lapping bar. Then I blue loctite the Scope Ring screws, dust the insides of the Scope Rings with Rosin, setup the scope for eye relief and then level off a surveyor’s line hung from my neighbor’s porch at about 150 yards. Then I torque the Scope Ring screws keeping the gap the same on both sides. Tedious but I would do that regardless of the Scope Ring brand. The Burris Xtremes have worked fine for me. While some folks will argue this, your scope is aluminum, why can’t the Scope Rings be? If you’ve got the scratch for NF or Badgers, by all means. When I spent $1300 on an NXS and $2100 on a State Arms and $600 on reloading equipment and $1000 on components, I was tapped out. The burris Xtremes were a good place to save. By the way, I saw your post on the FCSA visitors board and posted my method of determining Scope Ring height. If you use the Burris, you will probably want high because of the cheek rest configuration. I had a buddy with a 5.5-22×56 NF NXS and and AR-50 and he used the standard Armalite 1-piece Scope Rings and thought they were too low. Not because of scope/rifle clearance but because of the cheek rest. -David Edgewood, NM Pointman91
